What it's for

What it does in your package

Rollstock is material on a roll for your own equipment. Lidding lines cut and seal it onto rigid trays or blisters. Pouch-making and form-fill-seal lines combine it with film to form pouches.

The heat-seal coating is what bonds Tyvek® to the tray, blister, or film. It is applied in a pattern, not a solid layer, so the web stays breathable for sterilization. When the package is opened, the seal gives a clean, visible peel.

Choose Tyvek® 1073B for strength and puncture resistance. Choose 2FS when the device is lighter: it is a lighter web suited to high-speed form-fill-seal, and it keeps material cost down.

Typical applications include

  • Rigid-tray lidding
  • Blister lidding
  • Flexible pouch stock
  • High-speed form-fill-seal
  • Heavy or sharp devices

FAQ

Common questions

All FAQs

Should I choose 1073B or 2FS?

Choose Tyvek® 1073B for strength and puncture resistance, for example with heavy or sharp devices. Choose 2FS for lighter devices and high-speed form-fill-seal lines. It is lighter and costs less. If you are unsure, tell us about the device and your line.

What basis weights are available?

Coated Tyvek® rollstock basis weights (these include the heat-seal coating):

  • 71 gsm (2FS).
  • 86 gsm (1073B).

Custom widths and roll sizes are available. Give us your web width, core size, and roll length or diameter on the quote form.

Why is the coating applied in a pattern?

A pattern coating covers only part of the surface. The uncoated areas keep the Tyvek® web breathable, so sterilant gas can still pass through. The coating also gives a clean, visible peel, so the opened seal is easy to inspect.

Which sterilization methods can I use?

Coated Tyvek® rollstock is compatible with EtO, gamma and e-beam. Tyvek® is limited to restricted, lower-temperature steam cycles, up to 127 °C, so ask us before you plan one. Compatibility depends on grade, coating, and your process. Validate in your own sterilization cycle.

Does CleanCut make this rollstock?

No. We supply coated Tyvek® rollstock sourced from qualified manufacturers in North America and Europe. We confirm each manufacturer's certification (standard, registrar and expiry) in writing as part of your supplier qualification. Each lot ships with our certificate of conformance, which records the manufacturer's lot number. If you want finished lids instead, we cut coated Tyvek 1073B lids in our own cleanroom.

Can I get samples?

Request samples on the quote form. Tell us the grade, basis weight, web width, what you are sealing to, and your sterilization method. We will come back with questions and a sample plan.
