What it's for

What it does in your package

Polyethylene film is a common web for bags, pouches, and liners. It is tough and flexible, and it heat-seals to itself, so pouch-making and form-fill-seal lines can form and close packages straight from the roll.

Solid film does not let sterilant gas through. Gamma and e-beam pass through the package, so the film works well with both. For EtO, pair it with a porous component such as Tyvek® or medical paper, and validate the cycle.

The manufacturer makes the film in an ISO 14644-1 Class 8 cleanroom, which helps keep particulate off the web before it reaches your line.

Typical applications include

  • Pouch and bag making
  • Form-fill-seal webs
  • Liners
  • Radiation-sterilized packages

Ordering

How ordering works

  • Supplied per project and consolidated on one purchase order with your die-cut parts.
  • Typical lead time: 3–4 weeks for standard items, 6–8 weeks for custom size or print, made to order rather than from stock.
  • Any manufacturer minimum is shown on the quote.
  • Need film parts rather than rolls? We die-cut HDPE/LDPE film components in our own cleanroom.

FAQ

Common questions

All FAQs

What thicknesses are available?

Medical-grade HDPE/LDPE film rollstock is available from 28 to 60 µm (≈1.1–2.4 mil). Custom widths and roll sizes are available. Give us your web width, core size and thickness on the quote form.

What is the film used for?

Typical uses are pouch and bag making, form-fill-seal webs and liners. The manufacturer makes the film in an ISO 14644-1 Class 8 cleanroom. Tell us about your line and product, and we will help you choose a thickness.

How is this different from your film die-cut components?

It is the same material family. This rollstock is supplied on rolls for your own converting or packaging line. Our HDPE/LDPE film components are die-cut to shape in our ISO Class 8 cleanroom. Both are flexible film, not rigid cards.

Which sterilization methods can I use?

The film is compatible with gamma and e-beam. For EtO, pair it with a porous component, because polyethylene film is not porous. Steam is not recommended. Compatibility depends on the film, the package, and your process. Validate in your own sterilization cycle.

Who makes the film, and can I get samples?

The film is sourced from qualified manufacturers in North America and Europe and supplied by CleanCut. We confirm each manufacturer's certification (standard, registrar and expiry) in writing as part of your supplier qualification. Each lot ships with our certificate of conformance, which records the manufacturer's lot number. Request samples on the quote form and include the thickness and width you need.
